My overall framework to healing is Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), which is an evidence- based therapy that holds the premise that the way one thinks, feels, and acts is because of past experiences that taught them to do so. Within the EMDR lens, I utilize two main types of play therapy as a Registered Play Therapist™.

Theraplay® is an evidence- based practice that focuses on the attachment within the caregiver- child relationship. Kids learn who they are through their primary relationships in their lives. With one adult & one child, sessions involve a variety of structured games, engaging and challenging interactions, and nurturing moments to help caregivers understand their child's thoughts, feelings, & actions on a more intimate level. Caregivers are the experts of their children, so I expect that they will be taking what is done in session and start implementing activities, vocabulary strategies, and more into their home. It is common that I also see siblings and facilitate family therapy as well as see the moms for their own individual work (referring dads to Casey).

Gestalt Therapy is rooted in neuroscience and uses expressive arts such as sand tray, music, clay, drawing to support our children's healthy growth & development. In the therapy room, we honor the "I-Thou"
